As mentioned previously, most bookshops in Mexico City are concentrated on Calles de Donceles. The best one however is a fifteen minute Uber ride away. It’s called Nina Oscura.

The day started

as most usually do down here, with me going up onto the rooftop to admire the sunrise and the way its rays caress the succulents

Our hunt began here.

Nice shop. Bit weak on magazines so, a little disappointing. But, like all smart book hunters, we asked the shop-keep if she knew of any mag havens nearby. Turns out she did. A sister store. So off we went.

The entrance doesn’t portend much. But, behind it, two

super-friendly laid-back cats greeted us, Joachim on the left (named after a character in The Magic Mountain) and Michima ( michi is Mexican for cat). Why is this shop the best?
